Obituary of William Bechtold
William Bechtold, almost 80 years a resident of Stephenson county passed away at 2 o'clock yesterday afternoon at the home of his niece, Mrs. Marvin Price, in Lancaster township. His death was caused by pneumonia and old age. Mr. Bechtold leaves to mourn his loss two sons and two daughters: Mrs. Kerlin Clay, Lena; Mrs. Del Butler, Nora; William Bechtold Jr., Nora; Wesley Bechtold, Los Angeles, Calif. He is also survived by two brothers Solomon Bechtold, of Freeport, and Isaac Bechtold of Pennsylvania.
William Bechtold was born in August, 1843, in McConnell, Stephenson county, and died while in his 80th year. He was well known throughout the county, having made his home in Warren, Lena, Nora, Freeport, and McConnell at different times during his life.
He was united in marriage about 58 years ago to Barbara Stoll, of Red Oak, and she preceded him in death about 15 years ago.
After farming for many years near Warren, Mr. Bechtold retired from active work, and made his home in Nora. Later he removed to Lena, and then to Freeport. After the death of his beloved wife, he moved about from place to place in the county, renewing friendships of years standing.
Short funeral services will be held on Wednesday afternoon at 12:30 o'clock at Tempel's Funeral Home and the remains will then be taken to McConnell, where services and burial will take place at 2 o'clock at the McConnell cemetery.
