Notes for O. B. WILLIAMS: Was called Bern and lived with his wife Eva in Edgemont, South Dakota most of his life. Had feet frozen severely and walked on his knees. Obituary that was run in the Edgemont News Letter Orn B. Williams was born at Brownsvale, Minnesota, June 20th, 1872 and passed away at Yankton, South Dakota, on the 25th day of August, 1953 at the age of 81 years, 2 months and 5 days. When about 5-years old, he moved with his parents to Fort Randall, South Dakota where he lived until 1889 when he came to Ardmore, South Dakota where he engaged in ranch work and filed on and proved up a homestead, In 1903, he was married to Evalyn L. Moore, who was living on a ranch west of Ardmore at the time. The couple moved to Edgemont in 1914 where they resided until the present time. While working at Fort Randall, Mr. Williams had the misfortune to have his feet frozen. This caused him more or less trouble through his later life, although he bore this handicap without complaint. He united with the United Brethren Church in his youth and although he was not a regular church attendant, he believed in the Christian Doctrine, was interested in and supported the church. The deceased is survived by his wife and several nephews and nieces. He was the last survivor of a family of thirteen children. He will be remembered by those who knew him as a devoted husband, a good friend and neighbor. |
