7. MINNESOTA6 THOMAS (SARAH ROSEANNAH5 HAMLIN, NATHANIEL4, WILLIAM3, JOHN2, JOHN1) was born September 29, 1868 in Audubon, Iowa. She married DONALD M WEIR February 27, 1889. He was born November 7, 1862 in Greenfield, Dade, Missouri, and died February 10, 1942 in Lamar, Colorado.

Taught three years in Audubon County. Lily and Minnie were the first teacher in Sioux Count after the family moved there in the spring of 1886.

8. LILY6 THOMAS (SARAH ROSEANNAH5 HAMLIN, NATHANIEL4, WILLIAM3, JOHN2, JOHN1) was born July 9, 1870 in Trenton, Grundy, Missouri, and died 1904. She married CHARLES SIDNEY WILLIAMS, SR., son of PERRY WILLIAMS and MARTHA CAMPBELL. He was born September 22, 1869 in St. Charles, Winona County, Minnesota, and died May 6, 1938 in Chadron, Nebraska.

ILY THOMAS:
Lily and her sister Minnie T. Weir were two of Sioux County's first school teachers.

Lily arrived with her sister Minnie in Sioux County on February 25, 1887. (Found on page 39 of the History of Sioux County.)

Lily's sister Minnie, wrote; My first view of Sioux County was on February 25, 1887. when sister Lily and I, girls of 16 and 18 respectively, stepped off of the F. E. & M. V. passenger train at Bowen. We were met by our father B. F. Thomas and ushered into the living room of the depot which was occupied by Charles Tubbs a contractor and builder, his wife and two school aged children, Edith and Johnnie. The station agent James Northrup was a bachelor as were most of the inhabitants of Sioux County at that time.

Lily had black eyes and hair, which fell almost to her ankles.

Lily and Sid were estranged when she died. She left and went back to live with her parents in Greenfield, Mo. near or shortly after the birth of their fifth child Floyd on October 3, 1903. The surviving children lived for about year with her mother Sarah Roseannah (Hamlin) Thomas. After Lily's death the children went back to live with their father.

HARLES SIDNEY WILLIAMS, SR.:
Sid was Sheriff of Sioux County for 12 years. At the same time he ran a ranch and raced horses.

Sid was transporting a prisoner to the State Penitentiary in Lincoln in 1935 when he was involved in a one-car crash. He suffered a severe spinal injury. In March of 1938 he became paralyzed from the waist down and died in May of 1938.

Sid came with his family to Dawes County at Chadron. Nebraska in 1886 and was a homesteader and pioneer.

Served in World War II. He was married for a short time to Sadie Jordan. Served out the term as sheriff for Sid Sr. after his death in 1938. He had also worked on numerous occasions as Deputy Sheriff for Sid Sr..

Worked on his father Sid's Ranch at Ardmore, So. Dak and Node. Wy. until he was about thirty.

From that time on he ran sales barns, ran gambling rooms and raced horses.

He also rode broncs in the rodeo. On one occasion he rode a bronc with his broken arm in a cast.

  Notes for SADIE LOUISE CARLSON:
Worked at track kitchens throughout the horse tracks in Ne.. She always took the early morning shift which usually had her up at 4 A. M. in the morning.

She fought her way back from one stroke but succumbed to the second one.

She was always a strong supporter of the family and they could do no wrong in her eyes.

She once walked ten mile round trip on the ranch outside of Node, Wy. to enroll Dean in a country school.

Medical Information: Had two strokes. Also suffered from high blood pressure.
