TRIBUTE TO HENRY CLAY HUDSON (Obit)The sudden passing of Henry Clay Hudson, whose death recentlyoccurred in Plaistow, N.H., deserves more than a passing notice.The deceased was born in Lynn, March 12, 1844, and enjoyedcamparatively good health to within a short time of his demise.He was one of nine children and leaves one sister, Mrs. T.C.Black of Lynn; one daughter, Mrs. Clarence McDonald of Plaistow,N.H. and three sons, Harold C. of Lynn, Arthur L.J. ofHaverhill, and Ralph E. of Plaistow: also seven grandchildrenbesides several nephews and nieces.His education was acquired in the public school of Lynn, being aclassmate of the late ex-mayor George D. Hart. He was a veteranof the Civil War, having served 11 months in Co. F. Eighthregiment, Infantry. Part of this he served under hisbrother, Captain James Hudson, who was later aLieutenant-colonel, whose renowned message to Gen. Schouler willlong be remembered. He was clerk for his brother in his hotelfor many years. He was a great reader and endowed with a goodmemory.His children will ever remember his early teachings of truth andcourage.After his removal to Plaistow he taught his younger children theearly rudiments of education, the district school being somedistance. The latter half of his life was passed in Plaistow.Mr. Hudson was born in Lynn on North Franklin Street, nearBoston, where the old family home still stands, on the oppositeside of the street from the Lynn Hospital, and was a son ofIsaac O. and Louisianna Galeucia Hudson. His father in hisearly life learned the trade of shoemaking in company with hisbrothers.
