I have recently connected my WOOD family and became a member of the "First Families of Tennessee". My ancester is Samuel Wood, child of William Wood from Leicester, leicestershire, England. Samuel moved to Loudon Co., VI. The family continued to move westward. Samuel moved to Jonesboro, TN. His son William moved to Cumberland Co., KY.
I am still researching the FRANKLIN side. My great grandfather, John Andrew Wood married Mattie Ethal FRANKLIN, born in Sparta, TN. Her father's name is JOHN P. FRANKLIN born in KY. I have found is marriage to Nannie CUNNINGHAM, born Sparta, TN. His first wife died young and John P. married Nannie's sister, Mary Cunningham. I am at a dead end trying to find the FRANKLIN family. If you could help.
I am also researching the GIBA side of my family. My grandmother's name is Anna Bertha GIBA, born in Moldava, Cechoslovachia (as spelled on her batismal certifiate). She settled in Chicago, IL and married. She had a twin sister, Helen Giba. Their father's name is Andrew GIBA and mother's name is Maria Barbara BALOGH. Maria BALOGH was born in the country of Romania in a Transylvania Village called Kacza.
