About Our Family Research

I am descendent of Mary SHIRTCLIFFE and Peter MILLS ("denizen" of Holland) as recorded in the Proceedings of the Council of Maryland (1667-75) and of Samuel ABELL of St. Mary's County, MD. Samuel was probably Welsh (Ap-Bell). From Maryland, my ancestor Joseph Abell joined his brother Robert Abell on the long trek between the mountains and through the Cumberland Gap to the Rolling Fork Settlement in Marion County, KY.
I am slowly collecting MILLS and ABELL documents that were cited in my grandfather's book. Anyone wishing to share a .jpg or translation of a record from this prominent Catholic family line may email me below.
In addition, I have Irish roots in Kiltoom and Berries of Barony Athlone, Roscommon County. Here I can trace to my ggg grandparents John and Catherine MORAN HENAHAN m. 4 Mar 1849 (HANNON,HEANAGHAN,HEENAN,HENEHAN etc..)These relatives settled in Brooklyn, Kings Co. NY and in Richmond Hill, NY and then NJ.
I am also seeking info on my Swiss origins through the names WEIDER or WIEDER and SOHNS. John J. WIEDER (b. 17 May 1823) married Elizabeth SOHNS (b. 29 Oct 1821) and settled in East End on the Lehigh River near White Haven, PA in Carbon County. Conrad HOFMANN (b. 14 July 1845) of Switzerland married Catherine WIEDER (b. 4 Nov 1851) and gave birth to my ggrandfather Walter (b. 18 Dec 1871). There are still WIEDER family members living on the 400 acre ancestral farm.
