Built a Tannery on East side of Canterbury Road.
Born 3/16/1746.
Lexington Alarm fought 4/19/1775. Word got to Whately, MA late on the 20th. The Whately Minutemen were ready to start early the next morning. They marched 40 miles when they received word that the British had retreated. They returned home on the 23rd.

Member of Capt. Seth Murray's Co. during Expedition to Fort Edwards and Moses Creek 7/9/1777 to 8/12/1777.

Marched with brother Asa in Capt. Salmon White's Co. as part of Col Ezra May's Regiment Expedition to Saratoga 20 Sept to 14 Oct 1777.

Whateley Minutemen in Captain Israel Chapins Co., Col. John Fellow's Reg. They marched to Ware, MA on about 4/21/1775 and returned home on April 23rd due to the British Retreating.

While at Fort Ticonderoga with his borther James, John was in Captain Thomas French's Co. He and James made an Expedition to Saratoga during 12/23/1776 to 2/24/1777 .
