Cherokee Indians
Kathy, I enjoy your many Indian comments on various websites. My own ancestor, Dave Weaver, was on the 1835 Cherokee census. He was about the poorest Indian on that census. He moved from (later) Graham Co., N.C. to Ga. ca 1810. Recently I heard from a relative that he had seen info (from another mrelkative - now deceased) that circa 1780-90 a William Eddings and a Mr. Ozment had started up a PiedmontCollege in N.C. to teach Cherokees how to speak English. Altho I have info on over 25 branches of the Eddings, Eddins, Edings, Edins, Edens, etc. families of the 1700's, 1800', and early 1900's, I have never run across this Eddings/Ozment/Piedmont College info. Have you ever seen anything like that.? Bob Eddings.
