I'm looking for information on my 5th great-grandfather, Leonard Beck, who was said to be a private, First Company, Third Battalion, Northampton Militia under Lieutenant Colonel Nicholas Kern in the year 1780.He served as a substitute for Adam Leemer. He is also said to have "entered the service on Sept. 8, [1781] on a return of John Ritter's Company of Militia in actual service on the Frontiers, commanded by Lieutenant Colonel Christian Shousa."My source cites the Pennsylvania Archives, Fifth Series, Vol. VIII.
Also, I'm looking for info on Leonard's father-in-law, John Dieter, who was said to have served in the same unit.In the database of the Daughters of the Revolution, Abstract of Graves of Revolutionary Patriots, Dieter is listed as being buried at Zion's Stone Church Cemetery.
Do you have any suggestions on how I might get more information on either man?
