I fully understand your disbelief re the point to a temp folder.Believe me, it's peculiar!Yes, C Drive, desktop, never any sort of temp file.
I sent WinZip the error message and gave them the website from which I downloaded FAV.Their response is below:
"Unfortunately, we have no knowledge of the contents or use of individual archive files. There is apparently a flaw in the self-extracting archive you've downloaded.
If the software you downloaded came in a .zip (or other) archive, there is very likely a file in the archive named readme.txt, readme.doc, read.me, readme.1st, or some similar name. This is usually the place to start for details about the software you just downloaded, including installation instructions.
If you continue to experience difficulty, I recommend that you get in touch with the author or distributor of the archive you downloaded for further guidance. --C. Campbell, WinZip Technical Support"
I opeed and check all four of the cds that I purchased from genealogical.com.None contain the FAV file. They all say to download it from http://www.genealogy.com/dlfav6.htmlhttp://www.genealogy.com/dlfav6.html
