#1 - So, you have a SCOTT.FTW file. That is what I read, when you say "decided to create a Scott file on a stand along basis".
Is that what you did?
So you have a SCOTT.FTW file on your computer.
BUT, how did you try to "attach it to the Macdonald tree when complete.
Since you said you were giving this in "chronological order", you haven't said that you created a Macdonald.FTW file.
When you say that the Scott Tree now occupies a space .... do you mean it has a Link on your Desktop? Is that the screen you are talking about.
Please be a little more specific.
#2 - So now, you are talking about the Macdonald Tree. Is that another Family Tree Maker Family File? Is taht Macdonald.FTW ??
So, you now are manually hand entering the information that is in the Scott Family File, into the Macdonald Family File?
What is a "Add On". That is not a Family Tree Maker program term. Not sure what you mean by that.
Please explain what you mean by "cannot trace the file extensions for those files". What does that mean.
Did you follow the instructions from those Knowledge Base websites?
Are you using Windows Explorer to look for your files? Do you see the 3 character file extensions?
What we are talking about here, is very basic Computer skills.
Sorry, my mother is 93 and I have been working with her for a while to understand computers.
