1. My Macdonald file was my first tree and has been in existence for several years.
==> Does this mean that you have a Macdonald.FTW file on your Computer?
So, you have a SCOTT.FTW file on your computer ANSWER Yes
BUT, how did you try to "attach it to the Macdonald tree when complete ANSWER I tried to attach it but failed, That'a when I decided to add the Scott data directly to the existing Macdonald tree (.FTW file)
==> But, there is NO ATTACH file utility in Family Tree Maker. HOW did you try to "Attach" the Macdonald file to the Scott file?
you haven't said that you created a Macdonald.FTW file. ANSWER I have now. See above.

When you say that the Scott Tree now occupies a space ANSWER The "space" it occupies is the top right corner of the FTM opening page. It also appears on my dsktop but that is incidental as it is there only for convenience.
