A short followup to my recent post.

The Cmsr's show the MS 2nd PR Cavalry was at Joneborough, GA July thru August of 1864, and the report from Company B does not mention any combat during that period.Mapquest did not find a Jonesborough, but if that is the present Jonesboro, it is near highway 54, well south of Atlanta.

The Battle of Peachtree Creek was Northeast of Atlanta.The record shows a soldier of the MS 23 Infantry, was wounded and captured the next day, July 20, 1864,at Peachtree Creek.I'd say your Andrew John Ward is Sergeant Andrew J. Ward of Co. B, MS 23rd Infantry.
