Thank you so much for the great information. My ggrandfather, John Harris, was from Plum Bayou, Ar. After he was killed and his wife died, his children ended up with a man named Captain Thomas Dunnell, living in Illinois. Captain Dunnell's military record showed he fought in the 57th Infantry in N.Y. Maybe I can now find a connection between the two men if, by chance, they fought in the same unit. Ann
