OK--decided to start over this morning. First made certain my computer was clean--ran TrendMicro complete scan, then CCleaner (run this everyday.)Signed in to Ancestry using Firefox.Opened FTM 2012 and before I could do anything the sync started.I stopped it, compacted files again, and manually started the sync.It starts the sync process, then stops with a screen telling me there are differences in data in Ancestry and FTM.I click on sync to Ancestry.Screen goes back to the main sync screen showing the two process bars:Total Synch and Processing data from Ancestry.Total synch has progressed about 60%, but the second bar isn't moving.I note the time, get some coffee, open mail and come back 25 minutes later. No progress (guess tht is what I men by "get stuck.") It is now 35 minutes later--no progress.I go into Ancestry but a screen tells me the tree isn't available because a synch is in progress.I go back to FTM and press cancel on the synch screen and get a message telling me stopping the sync could damage my FTM tree or my Ancestry tree.I did cancel the sync previously--my Ancestry tree seemed OK.I stopped the sync (did this as I am typing this message), tried to go into File/close--and I am locked up again.cannot close Ancestry that way or with the X in the upper right corner. The message in my Ancestry tree still say they are syncing. I just tried to go back to FTM, the window still open in my bar at the bottom of my screen, and only pieces come up.Help--I'm stuck--and so is my computer!
