I am now convinced that I received a bad CD of FTW 2006 because....
I have always had problems with FTW2006 it since I installed it after having allowed FTW to do auto upgrades to
my FTW application.
Before the 2006 install, I had my computer upgraded to a Pentium4 mother board operating at 333MGZ with 1 GB Ram.I have a 40 GB hard drive with 16GB filled.
In case you are wondering, my computer tech built and maintained computers for the government and those he built for Desert Storm were the only computers which had no problems and who now has a special thanks and commendation hanging in his shop
Had my computer checked just to make sure something hadn't gone bad since the new mother board.
Things only got worse after the auto FTW VER 16 upgrade so I had my computer checked just to make sure something hadn't gone bad since the installiation of the new mother board and memory upgrade.
I do not have a virus, trojan, etc as I run Norton Internet Security Professional and AVG in auto mode and do a scan each evening to make doubly sure.I also use SpyBot and Ad-Aware which also help keep my computer clean.
I have spent several days doing everything I can on my end to clean up my C: complete with the %temp% switch.Even that didn't improve anything where FTW 2006/VER16 was concerned.
I am now fully convinced that my FTW 2006 CD has always been flawed and unless I can get a replacement at no cost to me, I can see no way to safeguard my genealogy file other than by going to another application such as RootsMagic.Don't really want to do that but I cannot
continue with the corrupted CD and/or the automatic VERupgrade.
I don't feel that I should have to pay for a replacement FTW2006 CD for this flawed FTW2006 CD as it has already cost me many hours of re-re-re entering info when the application stopped allowing any info to be added.
I would dearly love to stay with Family Tree Maker because I prefer it's layout better than any
other program that I have seen and dealy hope that this bad CD issue can be quickly resolved.
Up to now, a very satisfied long-time customer.
