On the LDS site, www.familysearch.com

Select: Family History Library catalogue

Select: Place Name

Key in name of place you're researching.

This should take you directly (or indirectly if there are several places with the same name) to the list of LDS resources for that place.

If the source is a microfilm you have to select 'View microfilm notes' to get the actual number.
