What is the PROPER TERM? Direct line? THANK YOU!
Hello,I have been doing research for a number of years, and should know this, but still not quite sure. When someone says they have a "direct line" to an ancestor, does it mean from ones FATHER, to GRANDFATHER, to GREAT GRAND FATHER, and so on?? Or can a direct line be this route, Father, Grandfather, then the Grandfathers MATERNAL GRANDMOTHER.Is that still considered direct line? And if it is not a direct line, what is the proper term? I would still think the latter example would still be my 5xGreat Grandparent. Am I wrong?Sorry this is so confusing.Thank you for anyone that can shed some light.Michelle
