It's not that we are leaving Genforum - we've just moved the chat elsewhere. And that is really too bad in that the chat attracted a ton of folks including a lot of newbies. We could help them with their problems, tell them how to use the forums and many times ended up referring them to other Ancestry-owned websites they were not aware of. It's been an active community - although not as active in the past couple of years as the Genforum staff no longer supported it.
We've moved and a lot of the old chatters are coming back to the new site since they can actually access it.. My guess is that a lot of us will continue to monitor some forums until they too collapse under the weight of lack of overall maintenance. (When is the last time you've seen them post a message that posting might be disrupted for a day or two so they could compact databases - the lack of which usually leads to the posting problems we've all been reading about?)
