Re: 1881 arrival from Ireland
Hi Barbara - no, I'm not much further ahead with Annie Farrell.I know she married John A. McBRIDE around 1883 and had six children - Amelia, Mary, William, Annette(Anita), George and Allen (but I'm not tracing the McBrides). They are living in Brooklyn, NY on the 1900 and 1910 census. I still cannot find a marriage record for her and John nor a definite ship/port/date for her arrival from Ireland - either 1880 or 1881.Annie was born in 1860 or 1861. Unfortunately, I don't know the names of her eight siblings, except Hugh and Joseph.I found Hugh in Newburgh NY.He arrived from Ireland through Montreal in 1880 and worked in Newburgh from 1880 - 1900. He married Susie McCrystal in 1893 in VIRGINIA and then continued to live/work in Newburgh until 1900 when they moved permanently to VA.Susie was born in NY so I have no idea how they met and married in VA.I was hoping Hugh and Annie were married in the same RC Church and when I found one marriage I would find both. No such luck.
Joseph was my grandfather and he stayed in Ireland. RC Church records for his area of Tyrone seem to have been lost. Even PRONI doesn't have them. I have tied to contact individual Churches in the area but any old records they still have do not go back far enough. The parents of Joseph, Hugh and Annie were Edward and Ellen Farrell.
