Ginny, My gr.gr,grandmother Martha Ellen Anderson marriedAllen Gentry Jr. in Mo. as her third husband. This was her sister Sarah J. Anderson's first husband. Their sister Elizabeth married David Gentry in 1845 her second husband was James Mathis. Their sister Dorcus married Judge W.G.Mathis. These Anderson sisters were from Tenn. to Mo. withParents Samuel Anderson andMary McKensie. My Grandmother Jackoline Meeks brother Squire married Martha Jane Gentry April 22,1870 by Justice of the peace A.Blyth. Squire was 1/2 cherokee Indian. Allen Gentry Jr. wasMartha Jane Gentrys father by Sarah Anderson. Allen Gentry Jr. was born in Tenn. in 1814 and as a lad came to Stone County,Mo. by oxen team with his Father Allen Gentry Sr. He collected more then 350 acresof fertile in the bend of the James River about two miles southwest of Galena,Mo. Ten children were born to Allen Gentry Jr. andSarahAnderson. Martha Jane was born March 10,1850. She had three husbands. Squire was shot and killed in a hunting accident. Allen Gentry Jr. andmy gr.gr. Grandmother Martha Ellen Anderson, Massey, Moore,Gentry raised William Meeks ,son of Martha Jane and Squire Meeks. William Meeks was only seven years old.Martha Jane Meeks wasted no time in remarrying. On Nov. 23,1874 she wed for the second time----- the groom was Henry Williams,son of John W.Williams.Judge William McDowell performed the marriage. Martha Jane met with misfortune again when her husbandHenry Williamsmet a tragic death when he was murdered "down by the Blake Melton Place"near the Gentry school. The Murder was named Payton,and the weapon was a pick-axe. The details of this grue somemurder were apparentlytoo muchto be recalled and we know not whyit should have occured.
