Yes, I seem to recall that Calamity Jane had some definate male character traits and could not have children, Wild Bill was probably only a friend and benefactor,I have seen a picture of Bill with Jean,around Warrensburg, Mo.
These Hickock`s are related to the Laffoon Family, the ones who helped Jesse fake his death in 1882.{Zack Laffoon, worked for Sidenfadden Funeral home in St. Joseph, Mo.
If you look at "Laffoon Family History", you will find.....,You guessed it!!!!! Jesse James was in that family.{Just as every one involved was, a friend or relative}.
Jean Hickock was the daughter of Calamity jane, blood or not.
In my family it is spelled "Hecox".{Ware Laffoon of Yelville, Ark. was my family connection}.His nephew is married to one of my cousin`s{Wilson side}
By the way, you will find many VanZant`s, Sherrill`s etc in the Marion Co. Ark. area.
See VanZant Cem.,Searcy Co. Ark. It has a "Jim Reed", Killed and hauled home in an ox cart{the story Joe Vaughn told about his father,"Jim Reed",} Joe lived in this area.
Yep! Jean was Calamity`s even if not by blood.,Lou
