Re: Three Months After Dalton Died
Last letter from Granbury,Texas to Roscoe James August 24,1951
Excerpt: "Could you come down here and pick June and I up and rent us a room for about six weeks. The bus fare is $16.00 one way so $32.00 would pay for gas. Let things cool off for a while and come by yourself.
A couple of men want to back me financially. Bowker will come down and meet us."
Note to Lou:
As I recall Lee and June came up by bus to Pueblo, Colorado with some of their belongings. Their boxes were stored in my Father's garage. I do not recall them living with my folks for any length of time. They were not KICKED OUT! That was not the nature of my Parents. Howk was working on an Oil deal up around Florence, Colorado. I believe that Mr.Bowker came from Montana and June and Lee went back with him. Lee Howk's next letter to my Dad was dated Sept.22,1951.
Excerpt of Letter Sept.22,1951.
"Arrived OK! Right side up. In to Oil leases and geology." In this letter there was no indiction of any bad feelings between my Dad and Lee Howk.Bob James
