Re: Joining Mayflower Society
Thank you, Brenda, about the DAR application. I have a cousin Laura (whom I met through the message boards) who has provided forms for me.)Our greatgreat grandfather married four "Lauras" in a row, and my direct line has five, plus two first cousins with same Laura E. title.
In the Mayflower lineage, one ancestor had two sons, one who had a veritable wealth of illustrious descendents, the otherbrother's line was my husband's, fine people, just not as "grand".
In Salem, Sarah Gardner married Benjamin Balch and had many children, then died young. Her brothers and their descendents married into prosperous families in New England and Boston and did quite well. My daughter can't stand to hear of the Gardner's in-laws, preferring the cordwainers, farmers, and mariner relatives.
Well, it's all grand fun and a chance to learn some history, delving into the lives of the great grandparents X ? and gathering new relatives along the way.Laura
