Tom,
Family Tree Maker does us some pieces of MSIE, from what I have seen. It has for years. I keep MSIE as my Default Browser but do NOT use it. I use Firefox.
I think that what you are talking about is the Browser screen, in the Web Search Workspace, when you are viewing a hit.
If you go to that link, and you can see the address, what happens when you go directly to that Ancestry.com website outside of Family Tree Maker?
