18th C Quakers in Halifax NS, and Maine
I'm searching for Quaker records on the family and parents of my ancestor Thomas Cobb, born ca 1762 in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Family records indicate that his parents were Quaker, but I cannot find any trace of them in Halifax. They might have lived in Maine or Nantucket, with a secondary or temporary residence in Nova Scotia. Thomas Cobb left home against his parents wishes in 1777, and joined the Continental Army in Boston as a drummer boy. After the war he married a Quaker widow named Lucy Smith of Nantucket -- about whom I can also find nothing. Among their ten children were Ardra Cobb (b. 1790), Mary Cobb, Enos Cobb, Henry Cobb (b. 1798), and Elizabeth Cobb (b. 1809). I think most of these children were born in Camden, Maine. Both Thomas and Lucy died in Lynn, MA, but once again I have been unable to find any burial records or tombstones.
Any light anyone can shed on this family will be greatly appreciated, including lookups in genealogical references. Thanks in advance!
