Well, thanks for the addl info, it paid off.Found them on the 1895 Iowa State census.All Ancestry.com has is the index, you might want to order the film at your local LDS Family History Library, just to check out other names.But looks like you got lucky with another Cook family living close by that might be Williams parents.I'll check the 1885 state census and see if they were there then.
These IA state census are a real blessing.Usually a census does not give place of birth other than State but this one does.But keep inmind that sometimes the data provided is not always right, as on any census. Info below does not list them according to location but is in alpha order.Sooooo, not sure if these two Cook h/h were living next to each other.
