Re: 1930 Alabama Census Look-up please (not found)
I went back to the 1910 census in Linn, Warren County IA and found:
Jack Chiles age age 49, married 27 yrs
Ada, wife, age 48, married 27 yrs
Mabel, daughter-in-law, age 18, widow 2 yrs, born ILL both parents Germany
Carl, grandson, age 2, born IA, father IA, mother ILL
I have no index to the 1900 census, so can't go back and see which of Jack Chiles' sons might have married Mabel. It wasn't Elra, who was married and living two doors away in the 1910. Unless you can find somebody with an index to the 1900, You'll just have to skip that generation and go back to Jackson, who you know is Carl's grandfather.
Can't seem to locate Jackson in the 1870 or 1860 census, anywhere, yet.
