Land records might also be a big help to you.Look for their first purchase of land in Indiana County.That would not only help you determine when they moved there but there's a good chance the record will indicate where they lived previously.
Real genealogy research requires thinking like a detective.You always have to be looking for another angle to go after the information you want.
I'd suggest you go to your local library and look for a book called, ~The Researcher's Guide to American Genealogy~ by Val D. Greenwood.It's in its 3rd or 4th edition.It will introduce you to many of the different type of records you can use to do research.It also talks about how to organize and evaluate your research findings as you go along.In general, you won't need to have a dictionary handy when you read it either!
