Re: Poll about FTM 2010
I am not happy that I was FORCED to upgrade to be able to use FTM with Windows 7 64 bit operating system.I am unhappy that the relationship tool does not work correctly.I am unhappy that they don't have a classic view option (even Microsoft was smart enough to know people don't always want new looks, especially some of us using FTM since the 1st version).I am unhappy you can't easily export from 2010 to a older version (again even Microsoft was smart enough to have that capability with Office).I am unhappy that as a subscriber ancestry.com (the most expensive subscription) that FTM isn't given free of charge. No they want you to pay for a genealogy.com subscription which is no longer updated, and they even tell you that you need to go to ancestry.com for the latest updates and additions.
I also not happy that I have to spend time learning the new layout and being constantly frustrated that things are different and that once you leave someone via the index list you can't use the back arrow to go back to who you were just on.I don't like that it always starts on plan instead of the last person you were working on (like the good old versions did).
I don't like that the reports now have footer and headers and if you try to remove them it messes up the layout. In 2006 or 16 you could copy the report and edit as you needed in your word processor and not have such headaches as you do now.
Bottom-line--do you want to spend the time and effort to learn a brand new program?or time and effort to learn a program that has some familiarity? That is something you ahve to decide.
