Corp. John Otis, NY

Can anyone help me with information for Corp. John Otis. I found him listed in the Ohio Chapter of Daughters of 1812 because his daughter, Esther, became a member. The info says he fought in NY and died in Trimbell, WI. I contacted the Daughters of 1812 and they said they have no knowledge of him nor where he was buried. I don't understand this because if his daughter presented the info so she could become a member wouldn't they have put a marker on his grave and have info on him?
