Simon Cummins- Ballowe's 2nd Virginia Militia

By Zack Cummins June 27, 2012 at 05:18:57

In my research, I have come across a "Simon Cummins"
that served as a private in the (Ballowe's) 2nd Virginia Militia regiment during the War of 1812.
Some of the companies in this militia regiment were apparently composed of men from Fauquier County, Virginia.
I am a direct descendant of Simon Alexander Cummins (1787-1830) who was from Fauquier County, Virginia.
Simon A. Cummins resided in Fauquier Co. during the War of 1812, and would have been of military age during that war. I suspect that Simon Alexander is the same man as the soldier listed in records due to family tradition recorded almost 100 years after the War of 1812, but can find no proof or further records on the Simon Cummins in the military records.
I haven't been able to find much online about Ballowe's 2nd VA. militia regiment with rosters.
I am posting this in hopes that someone might have more detailed information or links to War of 1812 veterans from Fauquier Co. or on Ballowe's 2nd Virginia.
Any information or links would be appreciated.

Z. Cummins
