To Shirley: There are emblems awarded to it. A bronze palm .One with 5 bronze could be substituted for a silver palm. If a division was cited they were awarded a gilt star. A brigade, battalion a silver star was awarded. They also had a bronze star. they were worn on the uniform ribbon & the medal ribbon. There also allowed to wear a fourragere or lanyard,in green &red on the left shoulder. Most seem to have a bronze palm on them in pictures you see in most books with an american soldier that is wearing one. There were 11,592 awards of this to U.S. troops. Hope this helps. Thanks ART.
