Was there a 23rd Bombardment Squadron (H) in Pacific?
My dad, Barney Ragland Pyle, Jr., b March 10, 1924, joined the Army Air Corp in 1942.He was in the Phillipines in August of 1943.He served as a navigator.
I believe planes I saw mentioned in some old papers he had were AT-7's and B-24M's.I know nothing about planes, so I hope those letters and numbers are right.
There was also information that stated that he was sent back to the states at various times during the war for more training.I'm not sure where though. He was originally from Texas.Seems like I remember something about some place in Alabama??
I saw information that stated that he flew a mission from Samar in the Phillipines on October 7, 1945, which was after the surrender. He was officially discharged from active duty on December 31, 1945 at Randolph Field in Texas.
Is there anyone who might have some information about the 23rd Bombardment Squadron (H)?What does the (H) mean?
