I've forgotten what the original question was, but Stanton's WW II Order of Battle, provides the following:
729th RR Operating BN, TC; activated at New Orleans, LA, 11 Jan 43; departed the Zone of the Interior, 9 Jul 43; arrived England, 15 Jul 43;* arvd. France-ETO, Aug 44;* arvd. Boston P/E, 17 Nov 45; (Assoc.: New York, New Haven and Hartford RR) inactivated at Camp Myles Standish, MASS, 18 Nov 45.
Location at war's end, 15 Aug 45; Gifborn, Germany.
Campaigns: 26 Central Europe, 22 Mar 45 / 11 May 45 30 Normandy, 6 Jun 44 /24 Jul 44 * 32 Northern France, 25 Jul 44 / 14 Sep 44.
* Date of arrival in Fance may be in error, since the battalion was credited with the Normandy Campaign, which ended in July. Unit must have landed in France between 15 Jul and 24 Jul 44 in order to qualify for this campaign.
That is the only information I can find on his unit. I am sorry that I can't be more helpful, Mary.
