following training, 1st battalion was re-designated
44th Engineer Combat Battalion, at Camp McCoy, Wisc.,
1 Apr 43;
departed NY P/E, 23 Mar 44;
(44th ECBN sailed on SANTA ROSA, as part of a convoy which included the sister ship, SANTA MARIE. His ship arrived at
Bristol, UK, after a 13-14 day voyage.)
arrived England, 4 Apr 44;
arrived France-ETO, 6 Jun 44
after the war ended, unit arrived Hampton Roads, VA P/E,
15 Sep 45;
inactivated at Camp Patrick Henry, VA, 14 Sep 45.
25. Ardennes-Alace (Bulge), 16 Dec 44/24 Jan 45
26. Central Europe, 22 Mar 45/11 May 45
30. Normandy, 6 Jun 44/24 Jul 44
32. Northern France, 25 Jul 44/14 Sep 44
34. Rhineland., 15 Sep 44/11 May 45.
The unit would have been on line in excess of 150 days.
