My father's job during WW2 was listed as AA Gunner and the lastyear as MP in Hawaii !946-have picture of unit/group).He was in the Marines from July 1943 until July 1946.I have his service records and they give all the units or whatever he was part of; VFM 471,MBDAG-46 which I can find nothing about, and VFM 215, MAG-46, SS-46, MAG-46. He was also part of a few others.I know what the units or whatever stand for and have looked up the history of them. What was an ARS-Air regulating Squad, what does Air Cas. Sq. stand for, what does a Landing Vehicle Tracked Co or Tracked Vehicle Bn do?What kind of job would my father have more than likely have done. He was PFC. If he was an AA Gunner would he neccesarily have been on a plane. He was also listed as a Sharpshooter. He was always stationed on the California coast except for Hawaii his last year. It looks almost as if he just had a lot of training and nothing else.I have a good reason for trying to find this info. Something happened to my father during his military time that changed him 100% from the person he was when he went in.Every time he would try to tell his what happened he would get upset and not be able to say anything. Thanks for any help.
