World War 2 Royal navy medals
I was trying to ascertain what one of my father's medals is. He was in the Royal Navy from 1939 to 1945 on various ships, as they kept getting sunk. I have no idea which as I haven't got any service records. Looking at his medals i just wonder what one of them is. He has three (bronze looking) stars, self explanatory, as one just says 'the 1939 to 1945 star'. Another says 'the Atlantic star' and this has a bar saying 'Italy and Germany'. Another says 'the Italy Star'. The one I don't know is silver and round and just has the king's head and George etc. on it and a lion etc other side with 1939 1945. Did naval personnel get two different types of general service medals? If so why?
Would anyone also know if you were a boxer in the navy would your bouts, etc, be recorded on your service record?
Sorry if this sounds stupid.
