Does anyone have any information on the 1/9/45 amphibious assualt on Luzon in the Philippines? Particularly information regarding the 6th infantry division, 1st infantry regiment, 3rd battalion would be most helpful as my father (an Army field artillery officer) was attached to this battalion as a naval shore fire control officer. Apparently from what little I've been able to find, there was no opposition requiring naval gunfire on the beach so he fought along with them and provided forward observing for artillery.
Any leads would be most appreciated. I have the names and serial numbers of the men on his NSFCP team if that would be of any help.
