Hello again, Deborah Burke !
The ETO Repo-Depots were located in the immediate vicinity of La Harve, France, and were established pretty soon after that area was liberated.
There were a number of them, broken down into two types:
one for staging of newly arrived replacement personnel enroute to a forward position;
the other for holding personnel returning from the front, some for rehabilitation and return to the front, some for return home.
There were a number of such camps, all of which were named/identified by various cigarette brands, OLD GOLD, CHESTERFIELD, LUCKY STRIKE, and so forth.
you will bring up the caption:
"The Cigarette Camps",
with an outstanding explaination and history of this operation.
Let me know if you are unable to bring up this location.
Is your e-mail address really ERROR 30 ?
