Question: What happened to the Personal Effects?
When a unit went into action, like crossing the Sauer River, what happened to the soldiers things?Did you keep personal items like books, letters, etc. somewhere?Did every soldier have his own pack to keep things in?
I'm assuming that if one was a browning automatic weapon man that he was not carrying another pack of "stuff" on his back in addition to the load that he already had.
When a man was wounded or KIA, does anyone know what happened to his things?
As always, any information would be gratefully appreciated.
Barbara
