ATTENTION Pacific Vet's and family members "Lost Medal Inf"
Came across this article concering a Medal very few vets or their families know about " Officially called the "K'and-Chan-Nein Chang" or "Medal in Commermoration of Victory in the Resistance Against Aggression" this medal was authorized by the Chinese Nationalist Gov't in 1944. It was awarded to military & civilian personnel directly involved in the war effort. Acceptance by US personnel was authorized by Headquartes, U./S. Forces China Theater, Circular # 166, 29 Sept. 1945. This medal is know as the "lost medal" because it was generally overlooked in the confusion of Japan's surrender and the priority put on getting US troops home. This medal is awarded to anyone who served in Mainland China, Burma, Vietnam, Formose (Taiwan) the water of the Yellow Sea, East & South China Seas-for a least thirty days between 8 Dec. 1941 and 3 Sept. 1945. Also included are those who participated in the Philippine Defense, and the liberation and occupation of Okinowa To apply for this medal, enclose WD AGO form 53-55 (separation papers) and contract:
