Chris - How many reports did you receive and what are the dates of the reports? Did you receive many reports for the days immediately following him being wounded?
I have several thousand reports for infantry units that truly are amazingly accurate given the numbers of men and the chaos involved during the heaviest fighting and the casualties that resulted.
It's not unusual to find a man listed as wounded, MIA or KIA on a report dated as much as a week later. With that said, if your relative was in the ETO, hostilities were winding down by late April and it is a bit surprising that he wasn't listed within 24 hours of being wounded even though 15 men were wounded as you stated.
Again, what are the dates of the reports that you received?
Norm
