Norm, Thanks for your note. My Grandpa was in Co. I, 383rd Infantry Regiment, 96th Infantry Division. He was wounded on April 22nd, 1945, during the campaign for Okinawa. I requested morning reports for this company for the period of
April 21st through 26th, and he is not listed at all. I would like to obtain reports for the duration of the war, but as I understand it, the archives do not process requests for more than a week or so at a time. Like you said, the
detail in these reports is pretty amazing and I think it would be worth my while to travel to St. Louis in order to get a day by day account of the company. I didn't know what to expect in the reports before requesting them. How did you go about obtaining your collection of reports? Any advice on how to proceed?
