Maynard E Shipley US Marine died in Okinawa

I am looking for any information on Maynard Elvis Shipley.He waa a Marine and was killed in Okinawa.His tombstone reads "United State Marine Corp 2nd BN 1st Marines.He died on May 7, 1945.I have no idea how to get information about how he died.Any help will be greatly appreciated.He was a 1st cousin and hero to my father who was only 10 when he died.He would like to know more about how he died.Thanks again.
