Hey Deborah! Well, he 'might' be on a morning report if you have the name of the hospital but I would not assume he got a pay check there. When I retired from the service in 1989 they STILL could not make your pay straight for about 3 months after you arrived at a new duty station.
Have you hit NARA yet and asked for all his records? In filing for my father's paperwork, I was sent a copy of his 'paybook' which gave me some good ideas of where he was at what time.
That might also be a problem for you. I believe all soldiers had a paybook and if you wanted to get paid, you had better have it in your possession. I am not sure if they just paid you and entered in your paybook 'x dollars, for the month of June' or if they transcribed the complete info into another ledger.
