Re: WOULD LIKE DAY TO DAY INFO ON MY DAD'S SERVICE
The 589th, 590th & 591st FA battalions were part of the 106th Infantry Division. Battle credits they received were Ardennes-Alsace, Northern France, and Rhineland. Consequently, if your dad had campaign credit for Southern France, Central Europe, Sicily and Rome-Arno (in addition to Rhineland) it would have had to have been with another outfit. ("HQ 202-- CAR CO" may be it, but I'm not a good enough detective to know, at this point. Perhaps someone else will be able to discern from that info.) To have a chance to get "day to day info" you will no doubt need to establish, with certainty, his unit(s) and the time period(s) he was with them. From where are you reading the info you have supplied? Is your dad living? Have you tried to get his service record?
