I am seeking to find out more about my father, who was killed in auto accident in 1956. He lists his unit on application for VFW Post in Butler, NJ as 101st Airborne, Div. Battery B. I know from few photos he also had glider wing label pin; he did not land on the beach. He flew over to Normandy; apparently stationed at one point in Brussels. He was trained as 'light cannoneer' according to discharge papers. Discharged in Sept. 1945, he enlisted in 1940, but went overseas in Sept 5 1943.
Is there a site or location where I can research his service prior to departure to Europe and during European campaign? Any clues are most appreciated. Thanks!
