Re: Mothers Day
Jack, what a nice thing to post.
My dad served 30 yrs in the Navy. From all the battles on the USS Nevada (including the attack on Pearl), to the Korean War. I don't remember too much of when he was away, but I do remember these things my mom did.
She took care of six of us kids. During Korea we were ages 6,5,18 month old twins, and a set of newborn twins. She would faithfully walk out to the garage once a week to start the car (1940 Coupe) and let it run for a while (she didn't learn to drive until age 56.) I remember hearing her cry at night after we were all in bed. She was always telling friends of how proud she was of dad. And I remember how excited she would get when it was almost time for him to come home.
Happy Mother's Day Mom.
