Registered Nurses, WW II
This is a special salute to all of the Registered Nurses
who served on all fronts during the war, and to acknowledge the more than 200 who died as a part of their service.
A timely article, "The 'Silent Patriots' of World War II",
by Bob Welch, appears in today's issue of the
Fort Worth Star-Telegram.
The article highlites Mrs.Betty Belanger Quinn, Manchester, N.H., for her role as one of eighteen nurses with the
45th Field Hospital Unit, which crossed Utah Beach,
10 June 1944. There are now only four survivors from that unit of nurses.
A photo shows nurses debarking from their landing craft onto Utah.
Ladies, well done. You were simply wonderful. Thanks!!!
Mr. Welch also wrote "American Nightingale: The Story of
Frances Slanger", Forgotten Heroine of Normandy". She was the first nurse killed in action in Normandy.
